You chipped your tooth on a bad apple, kept your eyes open with staples, so you could see blind. & you try & try again but don't succeed, now don't you go skydiving, don't you go fall over me. As we're lost in the Fun-House, we're lost in the Fun-House, we're lost & why, we're lost in the Fun-House, we're lost in the Fun-House, we're lost & why, is there no way out! So you're watching the TV without a screen, asking yourself why do you cry yourself to sleep, late at night. & the answers are waiting on the questions, but no one is talking, no one dares to speak. It's too damn quiet As we're lost in the Fun-House, we're lost in the Fun-House, we're lost & why, we're lost in the Fun-House, we're lost in the Fun-House, we're lost & why, is there no way out!

Cut Yourself 01:57
I think I died on my 6th birthday, & now I'm living just to be buried, cause with my clothes off all I can see is just another dead body. & I'll admit it's fun to watch the shit go & hit the fan, as long as we all agree that none of us want to clean up the mess. They say cut yourself, you're gonna need some cool scars, if you wonna hangout in this school yard, do I wonna hangout in this school yard? Oh I thought there'd be a better way to get some help Now I'll admit I'm more afraid of you than you are of me, but if I keep up the facade maybe you won't notice a thing, & so far this has gone to plan and you're not even listening, but on the off chance that you are can you stop applauding & fucking help…. Me They say cut yourself, you're gonna need some cool scars, if you wonna hangout in this school yard, do I wonna hangout in this school yard? Oh I thought there'd be a better way to get some help Apparently not!

Shit on a brick, build a house with it It'll stand for week, with no wind & cast your stones, your kidney stones & ignore the fact that you're still an arsehole You're a premadonna jerkoff, you're a premadonna jerkoff So times getting wasted, but so am i As the Pixies are playing "where is my mind!" & rain, rain go away, come again another day & reaper stay away because I don't want to die! Cause I'm a premadonna jerkoff I'm a premadonna jerkoff Oh yeah Momento mori, that means nothing to me It's just simple Latin to make me sound a little clever Momento mori, that means nothing to me It's just simple Latin to make me sound a little clever Shit on a brick build a house with it, It'll stand for a week, with no wind

Yes I am the Angel of Death I've been waiting on your last breathe So come along & treat me nice, & ill tell ya your alright, though you don't feel alright You're so angry Yes you're so angry Because now you're here, you can finally see That death is just too much Of a good thing So yes I am the Angel of Death I'm the last friend you'll ever get So come along & find out finally for yourself For your sake I hope there's a heaven or a hell As you're so angry Oh why are you so angry Because now you're here, you can finally see That death is just too much Of a good thing

In a world of sticks & stones, words only ever seem to deliver the killing blow As I don't like to mix my porn with politics, but it's like a bag of burning shit, & I just gotta get up & deal with it. & I don't like what they've done to you & I don't like what they've done to me But they say, that we are all bad dogs & they say, their gonna put us down, down, down But I know better So the view shows clear, the end is near So sharpen your teeth & bleach your hair You got to look your best for death. & they maybe above for now, but once the compost is in the ground we're all, food for worms So I don't care for what they do As long as I can be me, & you can be you But they say, that we are all bad dogs & they say, their gonna put us down, down, down But I know better But they say, that we are all bad dogs But I know better Because he's a good boy & she's a good girl, we'll stand up & together we'll see we're all good dogs Because he's a good boy & she's a good girl, we'll stand up & together we'll see we're all, Sniffing Arse

So did I fucking stutter when I said I really don't like you! Well you can drop dead, have an anyersum, it's on the house, its on the house I wish being an A-grade arse hole was a terminal disease, that would go kill you quick & painfully. Because I'm tired of your complaints of disappointment in me, see rents cheaper in heaven, I'm sure your gods there & he's waiting! So did I fucking stutter when I said I really don't like you! Well you can drop dead, have an anyersum, it's on the house, its on the house An eye for an eye always leaves one guy left with one eye, but you came to this fight, deaf stupid & blind. So blame your god or your upbringing or whatever mental illness afflicts thee, but I won't have none of the shit that your currently up & serving! So did I fucking stutter when I said I really don't like you! Well you can drop dead, have an anyersum, it's on the house, its on the house It's on the house, its on the house So did I fucking stutter when I said I really don't like you! Well you can drop dead, have an anyersum, it's on the house, its on the house

We were the unsuspecting, generation of ampathy, but if it doesn't kill you, then surely it's not an issue So rip it off like a bandade it's all the same shit on a different day, it's better to be safe than sorry, & I should know cause all I am is sorry! Because I'm stuck somewhere between a waiting room, & purgatory! & I know you're only trying to help but man I got too say it really feels like you're trying to kill me! So show us where it hurts, don't complain we've seen so much worse, & if it doesn't kill you, it's gonna scare the shit out of you, The racing horse comes first place, to retire to glue & disgrace, but it's the journey not the destination, you're only promised death so why ya hesitations Because I'm stuck somewhere between a waiting room, & purgatory! & I know you're only trying to help but man I got too say it really feels like you're trying to fucking kill me!

about

If You’re On The Same Moral Plane, recorded by Dave Mcdonald, was a semi-accidental concept taken from my own journey of trying to cope with various mental health issues.
The EP starts with an upbeat bright guitar in the song Lost in the Funhouse and keeps the vibrancy through into Premadonna Jerk-Off, where the false light-heartedness continues until the bridge where the journey hits a breaking point, and a darker tone is introduced. The tone quickly retreats back to its original lighter vibrancy, and humour is used to mask the sudden outburst.
A story about meeting a sarcastic figment of death is played out in the song Angel Of Death By Slayer, death greets a struggling person and shows them that there is potentially everything and nothing when they die. This is a unique song for Departure Party, in terms of the softer vocals, country-like guitar, and story-driven lyrics, and comes as a short break in the musical portrayal of our personal struggles. The EPs namesake, If You’re On The Same Moral Plane As A Dog, You’re Doing Okay, has an uplifting yet vulnerable tone, which brings a sense of power and unity, though finishes it off with a sharp and cynical note.
The EP continues its softer tone in the music of It’s On The House, however, its lyrics lead to another idea of menace and distaste, which comes through clearly in all parts of the song.
To positively close the journey through our personal struggles, we introduced an uplifting and fast-paced song that represents that moment of finally getting help, even if it was almost too late. Although on an opposite tone we included a bonus track or ‘alternative ending’ to this journey, The Good Times is a darker song that explains the, far too often, reality of someone who never was given the help and support they needed.
This EP never intended to be a concept piece, but its a journey far too many are forced to take. We just wanted to share our own experiences and struggles with mental health and bring much-needed light to something many of us go through in order to add to the discussion of change.
